Online Counseling — AI & Relationships

Is AI causing tension?

Online counseling for individuals and couples dealing with emotional attachment to AI, feelings of replacement, jealousy, distance, or difficult conversations around AI use.

01 — Who this is for

Does this
sound
familiar?

AI is changing the emotional landscape of relationships in ways that are hard to name. Your feelings — however unfamiliar — are not unusual. And they deserve a proper space to be explored.

01

My partner feels emotionally attached to AI

You notice them turning to an AI for companionship or emotional support. You're not sure how to feel — or how to raise it.

02

I feel replaced by AI in my relationship

Something has shifted. There's a presence you can't quite name. The distance is real — and you don't know how to bridge it.

03

Every conversation about AI escalates

The topic keeps coming up. It ends in an argument or in silence. You want to talk — without it turning into a fight.

04

I don't know if I'm overreacting

You question yourself constantly. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe you're too sensitive. You want a calm space to think it through.

05

I want to understand my own connection to AI

You've grown emotionally close to an AI and want to reflect on what that means — for you, your values, your relationships.

06

We want to talk about AI as a couple

You both know AI is part of the tension. But you haven't been able to have a real conversation about it. You need support doing exactly that.

02 — The Approach

Clarity.
Not
judgment.

Counseling gives you a structured space to name what's happening — free from defensiveness, shame, or pressure. Whether you come alone or with a partner, the goal is always the same: understanding what's actually going on, and finding language for it.

01 —
Name the emotional dynamic Identify what's actually happening beneath the conflict — attachment, jealousy, fear of replacement, or something else entirely.
02 —
Reduce confusion and shame These feelings are new and unfamiliar. Counseling normalizes them and helps you think clearly without self-blame.
03 —
Improve how you communicate Learn to talk about AI in your relationship without it escalating — or shutting down entirely.
04 —
Clarify what the conflict is really about Often the AI is not the core issue. Counseling helps you find the real question underneath.

04 — About

Stefan Kohlweg —
counselor & technologist

I hold an MSc in Psychological Counseling from Sigmund Freud University in Vienna, and a BA in Recording Arts from SAE, where I also work as a lecturer. That combination — a technical background in audio and media technology alongside formal counseling training — shapes how I think about the intersection of people and technology.

I work with individuals and couples navigating AI-related relationship tension — often for the first time, often without anyone in their lives who can relate. My approach is rooted in communication and emotional dynamics, not in judgment about technology use.

This is an under-served space, and I take it seriously. The goal is always the same: clarity, less shame, and better conversation.

Non-judgmental

Your situation is approached with genuine curiosity, not evaluation or agenda.

Communication-first

The goal is always clearer, calmer conversation — between partners, or within yourself.

Relationship-centered

Rooted in the complexity of real human relationships — not in abstract AI ethics.

Online-first

Designed from the start for remote sessions — no compromise in quality or presence.

Common
questions

Everything you need to know before booking a session.

The first session is about understanding your situation. We'll talk through what's been happening — without rushing toward solutions. There's no agenda to push toward a particular outcome. It's a space to be heard, and to begin making sense of what you're experiencing.
Both. The individual session is for people who want to work through their own feelings — without their partner present. You might be exploring your reaction to your partner's AI use, or your own emotional attachment to AI. The couples session is for partners who want to work through the tension together. You don't need to come as a couple to benefit.
This is very common. A couples session doesn't require agreement that AI is "the problem" — it only requires both people being willing to talk. Often, the most useful thing a session does is help both partners understand what each one is actually reacting to. That is usually more than just AI.
Yes. Online counseling is well-established as effective for relationship and communication work. For this particular issue — which is inherently digital — online sessions are often a natural fit. Sessions take place via video call from wherever you feel most comfortable.

No. Many people arrive uncertain — not sure if they're overreacting, not sure how to name what's happening, not sure if this is "serious enough." That uncertainty is completely valid. You only need to feel that something around AI is creating tension, and be curious enough to explore it.
